The Hospitality and Catering industry includes hotels, restaurants, pubs, visitor attractions, events management and contract catering.  At St Katherine’s we offer vocational education that will give students a taste of what it feels like to work in this young and dynamic service industry.  We explore the huge range of job opportunities that exist, as well as practice the skills necessary to succeed. At Level 2 we study the Eduqas Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Hospitality and Catering. Students on this course are required to bring ingredients in for cooking sessions, once every two weeks. 

Learning takes place in our state of the art professional kitchens and training restaurant - The Leaf at Ham Green.  Our professional catering facilities include a training kitchen and a fully licensed fine-dining restaurant that is open every Thursday during term-time to paying customers.  This gives our students the chance to gain valuable practical experience under the watchful eye of their tutors. This is where our young people begin to learn the employability skills that they will need for future employment.

Hospitality students are able to continue their studies in Sixth Form. We offer BTEC National Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Hospitality. This is very practical in nature and learners are assessed through a number of group activities. We also work with a large number of employer partners including restaurants, hotels and event management companies in the Bristol area to enrich the learning of our young people.
